The J.J. Pearce Mustangs competed in the District 10 5A swim meet on January 25th at the Keller ISD Natatorium. Mustang swimming coach Dan Hafner again brought a strong and talented team of swimmers to the contest.

The Pearce men crushed the competition, more than doubling the second place finishers, the Eagles of Richardson High School. In addition to outstanding individual results, the Pearce men took first place in all three relay events, the 200 Medley Relay, the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay.

The Pearce women were narrowly edged out by the Richardson Eagles, missing out on first place by just 6 points. Also strong in the relays, the women placed second in both the 200 Medley and the 400 Free Relays and placed third in the 200 Free Relay.

 

The district meet included the four Richardson ISD schools, Pearce, Richardson, Berkner and Lake Highlands. Also competing were three Garland schools, Garland, North Garland and South Garland, as well as three Dallas schools, White, Skyline and Sunset.

Maczka Wins Male Swimmer of the Meet

The top three male points winners were all Pearce Mustangs. Highest points, and male Swimmer of the Meet went to Junior Blake Maczka. Second highest points went to Freshman Hayden Steed, and third highest to Senior Scott Lin. For the women, Mustang swimmer Sarah McNair was the fifth highest points winner.

 

Advancing to Regionals

Pearce advances an impressive 20 swimmers to Regionals, including six relay teams. To advance, swimmers had to finish in the top six positions of their individual events. The meet for Region 3 will be held on February 7th and 8th in Rockwall. Preliminaries will be on Friday the 7th, followed by Finals on Saturday the 8th.
